Plum Claude D’Oullins – Half Standard

£45.00

Gages are superior dessert plums, much sweeter with a rich honeyed flavour when grown in a warm sunny spot.

Oullin’s golden gage serves two purposes. Pies and jams can be made using it in the kitchen. It tastes great eaten right off the tree and is sweet and juicy. A huge fruit by gage standards, it requires a sunny aspect in order to yield reliable and high-quality crops.

It has yellow transparent semi-clinging skin and a pretty golden hue with subtle red specks.

Between 1850 and 1899, France introduced it. The town of Oullins, which is close to Lyon, is the source of the term Oullins Golden Gauge. Reine Claude d’Oullins is another name for it.

It is self-fertile, which means that pollination doesn’t need the assistance of another gage at the same location. August is the ideal time to pick it and use it within a week.
