Pitavia punctata is a large shrub or small tree native to Chile and currently on the endangered species list. It is considered to be hardy with grey bark and leathery evergreen leaves. It produces trusses of white flowers from early to mid autumn followed by inedible yellow fruits. Whilst it is considered to be suitable for wind exposure, it may require winter protection if expecting extreme frosts. Specimens can reach up to 15m in their natural habitat but in our climate may only reach about 4-5m
