In spring, the leaves emerge a red-bronze, gradually progressing to a burgundy-purple throughout the summer. This is accompanied by a smooth reddish-brown bark which will mature into a beautiful silver-grey as the tree ages. This amazing beech adds colour and texture, not commonly found in the summer, with its glossy foliage contrasting beautifully against green lawns and bright border plants.
